Checkout this lovely sketch I created as a christmas gift for a friends parents featuring their two gorgeous girls. I was provided some reference photos and guidance on their past times, her dad being a golfer and her mum a handbag fanatic. The results are shared below. Hope you like.
I started with a series of note sketches (shown in the upper left hand corner) whilst I was on the phone one afternoon and liked the style, so re-created as a larger sketch with some details capturing the likeness of her parents and girls.
I refined the sketch to bring them closer together so that they were all holding hands.
Read this great post the other day on foxes. http://www.earthporm.com/22-photos-will-make-fall-love-foxes and thought it would make a great sketch. Never really attempted animals but quite liked this.
I was introduced to Freddie as a kid and he scared the shit out of me. I was always fascinated by an older girl I knew who had posters on her wall and and actual leather glove with knives on her bookcase. I thought she was cool as fuck, especially as I was likely to wet myself just hearing the freaky children singing 1, 2 Freddies coming for you...
I drawn Freddie a few times in the past but it was always a bit rubbish as his skin is so detailed. As I'm trying to teach myself to sketch again I thought what better way to do that that focus on a rapist, paedo, murdering drream stalker with a burnt face and homemade wolverine style claws. Work in progress so will keep posting more..
After 3 nights I've picked up the main details of the skin, face and jumper, still to add the claw and background elements and then finish the shading to get some depth. Realised (nothing new I'm sure) that little cotton buds make for perfect blending and shading. Gives a nice soft feel to the pencil shading on dark areas.
Day 4: Added in the background, glove and knife highlights and tried to blend it all together a bit more using some cotton wool and tissue paper.
Final Sketch, darkened slightly in Photoshop but unedited. Fairly pleased. Jumper could be much better and more detailed. Think the skin needs more depth but happy at my first attempt.
This series of sketches started as some quick doodles whilst waiting for my mac to update. Always been a fan of simple, whimsical character art. I prefer the cute, innocent look that the original sketches have, whilst the final drawings have aged the pair slightly.
Quite like this set so look out for more soon. Check out our gallery to see the final sketches along with some colour variations.
Original rulebook doodles
The sketches above were born from a few doodles in a lined rulebook. Rough around the edges but generally give me the ideas that I think will work.
We all know how it is. Going out with your mates for a quick trip in the country side, flying happily though the air not a care in the worl.... oh shit, what! Fuck! I'm trapped and I have a large big eyes spider with six legs (weird thought they had eight!) coming towards me licking it's lips. Well thats buggered up my holiday plans!.
Trevor is a little bit buggered!!
Slightly updated sketch in 2014.
Original sketch idea found on an old pad Nov 2008
Doing our usual Sunday shopping at Blott Shop in MIlton Keynes for some of their kick ass rubbers (erasers to some!!) when we glanced at the sketch pad for the pens. Normally littered with random doodles of I (Heart) Jason or the odd bendy penis, we were pleased to see someone had taken the time to showcase their art to the throng of kids fighting over the new purple monkey rubber with removable eyes. Thanks to the rando that posted this for all to see. Took a sneaky shot. For said rubbers check out http://www.blottshop.com/
